Update

Greetings!

Wow, it’s been a little over a month since I finished Destined Marriage With Fragrance.  I’m enjoying my break with watching a lot of dramas. Lol… I re-watched Nirvana In Fire for the fifth time and was still bawling to see 3 scenes in particular, when Princess Ni Huang found out that Mei Chang Su was her Lin Shu gege, when Imperial Concubine Jing met with Mei Chang Su and couldn’t control her composure and when Prince Jing finally found out that Mei Chang Su was his good brother, Lin Shu. A lot of tears came out of my eyes!!! Then, I also re-watched 10 Miles Peach Blossom as these two dramas are the two best dramas that I have ever watched. In between those two dramas, I also watched Legend of Fuyao & Korean’s Wok of Love. Fuyao was alright but i hated the ending. Wok of Love was funny & watching that drama made me want to learn how to handle a wok like a professional. Lol…

Anyway, I still haven’t made any decision on whether or not to translate book 2 of the Destined Marriage series but there’s a big chance that I will translate this book as a lot of the unanswered questions about the two jades, how it relates to Mo Can, etc etc, are actually answered in book 2. Yeah, I was cheating a little bit to see how interesting book 2 is. Lol… And I actually found the answers on some of the plots that weren’t answered in book 1. Maybe I’ll just translate this part to kind of close out the plot but I’m not sure at this point because I’m afraid that I’ll miss things if I don’t translate the whole book. My worry is still that book 2 seems to gear towards revenge plots and I’m not sure that I feel up to translate the book but at the same time I do want to translate the parts that answer the unanswered questions from book 1. Decision, decision…

With that said, I just noticed a few days ago that Shushengbar’s website hasn’t been working lately so one of the reader asked where she could find the link for book 2. If you want to read book 2, here’s the link: https://ck101.com/thread-2558675-1-1.html

And a link to read book 3 can be found here: https://m.lread.net/read/8100/

If I’m going to translate book 2, I probably won’t start posting it until November or December or maybe next year. Hehehe… I’m planning to move to a new place within a month or so, so I haven’t had any time to sit down & start the translation of book 2. Alright, that’s a little update from me for now!

  1. Glad to hear you’re doing well~ Take your time and enjoy yourself~
If I were to pick, I would choose to just get the missing plot points about the jades and what not. I’ve never been one for dark stories focusing on revenge, angst, and stuff, so not sure if I could fully enjoy the 2nd book. And it sounds like it would be excessively unmotivating for you too since it would be far more time spent translating it.

    • That’s what I’m afraid. I’m not one to enjoy stories about revenge plots as it’s just too much to bear. That’s why I’m thinking to just translate the chapter where most of the questions are answered. I’ll think some more about what to do on this… Thanks for your suggestion!

  2. I also think that if translating takes up too much time and effort, you could consider doing chapter summaries? Yes, I know lots of ppl would be disappointed to not have a full translation to read but considering you are a hobbyist, whatever you enjoy sharing is what others ought to appreciate. My 2 cents and Thank you for your blog

    • Not sure if I can do a good job in summarizing. Haha… Since I’m but used to summarizing chapters in novel, I’m afraid that what I’m trying to summarize if actually so off hands than what the author is trying to tell us. Lol… But thank you for the suggestion! I’ll think about this & see what’s the best way to do it.

  3. Wow, scary coincidence, I was just thinking of you this morning before I saw your post! I’m really glad to hear you’ve been doing stuff you enjoy, so don’t feel burdened to start translating if there’s any doubt you’ll end up regretting it and not have fun doing it… speaking for myself, I kind of like having it unanswered as it adds to the mystery and allure of Mo Can, but of course, leech that I am, I will read anything you translate 😘😘😘

    • Hahaha… Do we have some kind of connections? Lol… Yeah, when I start translating something, I want to make sure that I finish that translation. I may translate a few chapters to see how the story goes. I can usually judge within 5-6 chapters whether or not I’ll enjoy the story. Maybe the revenge plots isn’t too bad. But the first few chapters were already pretty angsty. hehehe… That’s when I jumped into ch 100 plus & accidentally found the answer of the mystery of the jade, how it connects to MSQ, etc.

  4. Getting to know about what you did this time while you are on a break made me think of doing these:
    1. Re watch Nirvana for the ‘n’th time, I swear this series is a beauty trap, I go back again and again. I have discussed this with my friend, and we both agree that whenever we have nothing better to watch, we go back and re watch Nirvana! Its my fav chinese series so far. Do you know I started to watch sound of the desert because of Eddie Peng but gave it up cuz I was hurt cuz Hu Ge was so pitiful there. I left the series mid way and I still don’t have the courage to watch it. That was where I came to know Hu Ge and that was my first and last ever second male lead syndrome. Well….there I go rambling.
    2. I wanna re watch TMOPB too, not like I did not do it last month.
    3. FuYao made me and my friend very dissatisfied with the ending. The last two episodes were rather abrupt, and the ending even more so. I still cannot make head or tail of it. Its like they gave the immature young viewers toffee to calm themselves and left the older seasoned viewers confused and irritated.
    4. Is wok of love any good? I haven’t watched any Kdrama in a long time, everything kind of seems the same and bores me to drop or skip them.
    4. I will wait for the proper translation for the books, auto translate warps the name of the characters and makes me loose my mind. If you need a proof reader, I will volunteer.
    5. Do you know the most funny thing going on in my life right now? I will tell you, I know you will laugh your ass out! My mother recently started looking for a match for me.. Oh Yeah👀 “putong” –>💩… 😂 And, and, ahem!, she even posted an advertisement in a paper (it happens a lot here). Do you know apart from feeling like an objectified product, I almost feel worthless. This humiliation has been going on for few weeks already. I am so confused.

    • Oh my gosh, is that for real that your mom put an advertisement to look for a son in law??!!! 😬😬 I’m sure it’s real since you mentioned it. But no way… I’d rather you use a dating internet website to look for your future husband instead. How many potential husbands “apply” for the position?? Oh goodness gracious, that just sounds so wrong!! Does your mom have any relative that she can live with instead of living with you? It sounds mean but I will flip out in anger if my mom will do this to me. Sigh… I feel for you…

Wok of love is kind of funny. The plot isn’t deep but there are tons of food. Lol… the food looked so yummy. I was pretty bored at that time & my friend said that she was watching the drama so I thought I checked it out. It was really an ok drama. It’s only 1/2 per eps & total 38 so it finished quickly.

I’m still confused with fuyao’s ending also. I was wondering if it was really a happy ending for them or was it a happy ending after their reincarnations. It made no sense if it was a happy ending for them coz she had to die to really kill that soul of the bad guy. So either way, I was also mad when they killed of Xiao Qi. How dare they!!! So to erase that fuyao drama from my brain, I decided to re-watch TMOPB. Lol…

NIF is also my favorite drama. I’m not a big Hu Ge’s fans but I have seen a lot of his dramas in the past. I always thought that he’s a good actor but there was always something missing in his acting in his previous dramas that I had seen until I saw him in NIF. I was blown away by the way he portrayed the character, and all of those actors who played in that drama were just awesome. At first I was hesitating to watch it coz I’m not fond with revenge, palace politic, concubines fighting for powers, etc. But I’m glad that I watched this drama & am still watching it whenever I need to watch a good drama. Hahaha…

Thank you for the offer to be a proof reader. 😍

  5. Yeah, my life situation is for real. I am so fed up with everything right now! Do you know how many mama’s boys I have met? And I never mean to insult people but I learnt what “New Money” and tactlessness means (rolls eyes)! And moreover the people are so biased, they think I’m looking for a shelter for me and my mom, since my father passed away so long ago! (rolling my eyes again) I want to crack open those brains and examine all kinds of toxic stuff that’s dumped inside. Oh god! I am so frustrated! I really want to flee this place! There were about some 300 calls, to which I had to reply cuz my mother is not so very efficient with technology! I actually flipped out a long time ago (about 2 years ago) when the topic came up first, but then understood that my mom wants somebody to be there for me after she is gone, but to find somebody suitable for yourself is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. And don’t even get me started on family function times. I started avoiding them long time ago, cuz it totally becomes “Round Table Conference to Torture Riz” occasion when I am there.

About Fu Yao, I felt Xiao Qi’s death was absolutely meaning less! It was not justified at all. He could have just crossed the bridge and cut off the ropes, that way the other deciples need not have even thought of crossing the bridge.

And since NIF is so bloody awesome! I am just mentioning it! NIF Rocks!

    • “New money” (roll my eyes too…). Those generation of people are spoiled brats & entitled people who don’t know how to work hard to make names for themselves. I know life seems so unbelievable right now, but just remember that there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe you’ll find your one true love out of this. In the mean time, try to brainwash your mom (lol), by telling her that this is a 21st century so it’s alright to be a single & successful woman by herself. A woman doesn’t need a husband anymore. Most of the time, they only bring troubles so it’s better for a woman to be single & independent. 😃

      • Lol, I have tried, and I am still trying to brainwash her. I really want to run away, I am thinking of dumping my business on my partners for two years and run away for higher studies to the states or europe. Don’t know what will happen, I will wait for six months and prepare to give GRE.

      • If you trust your business partners that they won’t scam you, I think it’s a good idea to go and get a higher studies. Just to get away from your mom temporarily. I have some reservations to truly trust people in dealing with business when one of the owners isn’t around. While two years aren’t too long, but things can happen in that two years. Even family member can cheat another family member in business when one family member is too trusting. Think about it carefully & whatever you decide to do, I’ll support you! If you come to the states (Michigan), visit me… 😍
